Day 1: Arrival in Paro
Upon your arrival at Paro International Airport, our representative will greet you and transfer you to your hotel. Take the remainder of the day to rest and acclimate to the altitude. In the evening, enjoy a welcome dinner and a briefing about your upcoming trek.
Day 2: Paro Sightseeing
Today, explore the highlights of Paro, starting with a visit to the iconic Tiger’s Nest Monastery (Taktsang), perched on a cliffside. Afterward, visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest and most sacred temples in Bhutan. In the evening, stroll around Paro town and soak in its charming ambiance.
Day 3: Paro to Shana
Begin your trek with a scenic drive from Paro to Shana, the starting point of the Jomolhari Trek. The journey offers stunning views of the Paro Valley and surrounding mountains. Upon arrival in Shana, meet your trekking crew and set up camp for the night.
Day 4: Shana to Thangthangka
Today’s trek takes you through lush forests and along the Paro River. As you ascend, you’ll be treated to panoramic views of the valley below. Arrive at Thangthangka, a beautiful campsite surrounded by snow-capped peaks, and spend the night under the starry sky.
Day 5: Thangthangka to Jangothang
Continue your ascent towards Jangothang, the base camp for Mount Jomolhari. Along the way, you’ll pass by yak herder camps and pristine alpine meadows. Arrive at Jangothang and marvel at the breathtaking views of the towering mountain peaks. Settle into your campsite and rest for the night.
Day 6: Jangothang (Acclimatization Day)
Take a rest day to acclimate to the high altitude and explore the surrounding area. You can opt for a short hike to nearby viewpoints for panoramic views of Mount Jomolhari and its neighboring peaks. Alternatively, relax at camp and enjoy the tranquility of the mountain landscape.
Day 7: Jangothang to Lingshi
Today’s trek takes you over Nyile La Pass, offering spectacular views of the Himalayan range. Descend into the Lingshi Valley, passing by remote villages and ancient dzongs along the way. Arrive at Lingshi and set up camp for the night, surrounded by rugged mountain scenery.
Day 8: Lingshi to Shodu
Continue your trek towards Shodu, descending through rhododendron forests and crossing several mountain streams. Along the way, keep an eye out for native wildlife such as blue sheep and Himalayan griffon vultures. Arrive at Shodu and set up camp near the river for a peaceful night’s rest.
Day 9: Shodu to Barshong
Trek through dense forests of pine and oak trees as you make your way towards Barshong. Pass by traditional Bhutanese villages and terraced farmlands, gaining insights into local culture and way of life. Arrive at Barshong and set up camp for the night.
Day 10: Barshong to Dolam Kencho
Embark on the final leg of your trek, descending through lush forests and across meadows filled with wildflowers. Arrive at Dolam Kencho and celebrate the completion of your trek with your fellow trekkers. Spend the evening relaxing and reminiscing about your journey.
Day 11: Dolam Kencho to Paro
After breakfast, trek to the roadhead where your vehicle will be waiting to transfer you back to Paro. Upon arrival, check into your hotel and enjoy a hot shower and comfortable bed after days on the trail. Spend the rest of the day at leisure.
Day 12: Departure from Paro
Transfer to Paro International Airport for your onward journey, bidding farewell to the Land of the Thunder Dragon. Take with you cherished memories of the Jomolhari Trek and the stunning landscapes of Bhutan.
